カラディカン・エステート（Karadykan Estate）は、インド（India）カルナータカ州（Karnataka State）チックマガルール県（Chikmagalur District）ババ・ブーダン・ギリ（Baba Budan Giri）ビダレ（Bidare）に位置する農園です。

この農園は、3つの丘に囲まれていることから、「トリシューラ（Trishul）」という名前が付けられています。自然泉が湧き出る土地に大きな小川が流れており、野生動物たちが歩き回る自然豊かな環境です。重力を動力とする100年前の12フィートの水車があり、コーヒーのパルピング（果肉除去）のために水力発電が行われています。

カラディカン農園ではイチジクやネロリの木がコーヒーのシェードツリ ーになっています。 土壌や周囲の環境、野生生物、森林の保護のため、化学物質の使用は最 低限に抑えられ、作業の大部分は手作業で行われています。同農園の敷地内では、コーヒ ーのほか、 カルダモン、ココナッツ、ビンロウ、コショウなども栽培されています。

＜農園の歴史＞

カラディカン農園は、サンガメシュワ―社が所有する農園のひとつ。同社は４つの農園（グンゲギリ農園、カラディカン農園、コンダカン農園、アッティカン農園）を所有している。

グンゲギリ農園、カラディカン農園、コンダカン農園は1890年に英国人のクロフォード兄弟（チャールズ＆ウィリアム）によって始められ、現オー ナーであるアパドゥライ氏の祖父がインド独立（1947）後に取得したもの。

アッティカン農園も同じく英国人のモリス親子（ラドルフ＆エリック）によって 始められ、1960年に取得した。1981年に４つの農園を統合して、サンガメシュワ―コーヒー農園という企業形態にした。

Karadykan Estate is located in Bidare, Baba Budan Giri, Chikmagalur District, Karnataka State, India.

The farm is named “Trishul” (Trishula) because it is surrounded by three hills. A large creek flows through the land, which is fed by a natural spring, and wildlife roams the land. There is a century-old 12-foot waterwheel powered by gravity, and hydroelectric power is used for coffee pulping.

Fig and neroli trees are used as shade trees for the coffee on the Kaladikan Estate. To protect the soil, surrounding environment, wildlife, and forests, the use of chemicals is kept to a minimum, and most of the work is done by hand. In addition to coffee, cardamom, coconut, bottle gourd, and pepper are also grown on the farm.

<History of the Estate>

Kaladikan Estate is one of the plantations owned by Sangameshwar. The company owns four plantations (Gungegiri, Kaladikan, Kondakan, and Attikan).

The Gungegiri, Kaladikan, and Kondakan plantations were started in 1890 by the Crawford brothers (Charles and William), who are British, and were acquired by the grandfather of the current owner, Appadurai, after India’s independence (1947).

In 1981, the four farms were merged to form the Sangameshwar Coffee Estate.
